Dear Black Russian Terrier Breeders and Owners

An Invitation to Contribute to a New Book

The research and writing process of my manuscript on the development of this majestic dog is nearing completion. I am now at the point of offering an opportunity to breeders and owners of the Black Russian Terrier to submit photographs and stories for consideration for inclusion in what will be an inspiring account of history in the making.

I require very clear high quality pictures for reproduction in both black/white if available, and in colour, keeping in mind that black coats do not always show the best highlights.

Photographs of:

  • well posed dogs, bitches and puppies in any variety of settings
  • with family and children and at play
  • working and guarding - and early/current military if possible
  • protection and training
  • old photos of earlier days in development
  • photographs of Col. Medvedev and other developers
  • private clubs and breeders involved with the Red Star breeding programs
  • photographs of Red Star Kennels and others
  • photographs of the BRT mouth and teeth - smiling or in aggression
  • stories of your BRT and others that you know
  • I am also looking for appropriate pictures of the Caucasian and Central Asian Ovcharka, Moscow Great Dane, Laika, Eastern European Shepherd, Moscow Watch/Guard Dog, Moscow Water Dog, and the Estonia Hound
  • For historical and comparison reasons I would appreciate receiving photographs of coat colours through the development period. For instance: black/white, tri-colour, fawn, and markings similar to the Rottweiler, etc. Many years ago when I was breeding Giant Schnauzers I would occasionally be presented with black/white patched pups and the odd one that was like a wire-coated Doberman Pinscher

In addition, I require that all submissions include your written authority for me to include any material that you feel worthy of consideration for inclusion in a book that will project photos and stories of your Black Russian Terriers to the English speaking world. I welcome information on your kennels along with photographs for consideration.

Each photograph (black/white and colour) must clearly identify the dog or dogs, the breeder and/or current owner. A sentence or two of information may also be included for consideration with each photo.

It is very important that anything you are willing to provide is very clearly and accurately identified and described - in order to give full credit to you for your contribution. In addition to credits included with the photographs and stories, my book will also contain a separate section listing all contributors and kennels. If you do not wish to be included in the listing, please advise me. Please also understand that I may not be able to use all photos and information submitted. I reserve the right to make decisions concerning editing material for content, formatting and grammar.

This will be an excellent opportunity for you to display your fine Blackies and obtain long term exposure throughout the English speaking world. Good books last forever and themselves become part of history.

Your interest and participation will be gratefully received and appreciated. I will follow up with contributors after finalizing all publishing details with the publisher.

Please assure me that you have the authority to provide the material for reproduction. High quality hard copy photographs and articles provided by mail for rewriting or scanning are acceptable. I will acknowledge the receipt of all material and information whether it is selected for inclusion in the book or not.

I am still looking for that special BRT picture to grace the cover of my book.

Sincerely,

Donald B. Anderson
